Summer 2026
It’s been an age since I posted an update. Today seemed like a good day to do that.
I’ve been with two critique groups for nearly four years now. They’ve been great for spurring me on and keeping me real. Two members have self-published books. You can read interviews with them at SouthWest Writers, which include links to their books: Jeff Otis and Bryan Beck. Another critique-group member published her first novel, A Dry Line, in 2015. She also has an interview at SouthWest Writers: Ramona Gault.
Speaking of SouthWest Writers, the organization and people have been so helpful that I opted to become a lifetime member. I’ll be adding their logo and link on my homepage soon.
I’ve also been working with a wonderful book coach since last fall. Sam Cameron at Truant Pen helped me see a bigger picture for my work in progress. Since working with her, I’ve found real joy in the writing process. She keeps me focused on current tasks while applauding progress in any direction. In March, I joined her “Drafting Collective” and have met many more writers from across the country.
Finally, I’ve submitted my first short story to a science fiction magazine today. Wish me luck!
